Los Angeles, CA - In a move that has sparked both excitement and controversy, an artificial intelligence (AI) hologram of Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee will make its debut at the Los Angeles Comic Con next week. The hologram, created by Proto Hologram in collaboration with HyperReal, is part of the Stan Lee Experience at LACC.
According to a statement from Bob Sabouni, head of Stan Lee Legacy Programs, the AI was designed to mimic Lee's voice and mannerisms while staying true to his spirit and intent. "We wanted to build a voice that stays faithful in context and intent," Sabouni said. "Not always word for word, but always faithful in spirit."
The hologram will be available for fans to interact with through a 15-20 experience fee, which includes taking selfies or engaging in three-minute one-on-one conversations. The cost of these interactions is not specified.
