150 Million-Year-Old Pterosaur Cold Case Cracked
BERLIN, GERMANY - In a breakthrough that has shed new light on the lives of ancient flying reptiles, paleontologist Rab Smyth has solved a 150-million-year-old mystery surrounding the deaths of two young pterosaurs.
According to a study published in the journal Nature, Smyth, a researcher at the University of Leicester's Center for Paleobiology and Biosphere Evolution, discovered that the two Pterodactylus antiquus hatchlings had succumbed to storm winds during a tropical cyclone in what is now southern Germany.
