Intel and AMD Trusted Enclaves Fall to Physical Attacks
Researchers have independently published two papers detailing attacks that compromise the security of Intel's SGX (Software Guard Extensions) and AMD's SEV-SNP (Secure Encrypted Virtualization - Secure Nested Paging), trusted enclaves designed to safeguard sensitive data in cloud computing environments.
According to the research, both protections can be defeated by a physical attack known as Battering RAM. This allows attackers not only to view encrypted data but also to manipulate it. The attacks have significant implications for organizations that rely on these protections to secure their confidential information.
