Heidi Health Secures $65M Series B Funding Led by Point72's Steve Cohen
In a significant milestone for healthcare technology, Heidi Health announced Monday that it has raised $65 million in its Series B funding round led by Steve Cohen's Point72. The investment brings the company's total funding to over $100 million and underscores the growing recognition of the importance of administrative support in healthcare.
According to Dr. Tom Kelly, co-founder and CEO of Heidi Health, the company's AI medical scribe has returned more than 18 million hours to frontline healthcare providers from over 70 million patient visits in 116 countries since its launch in early 2024. "We wanted to build an AI care partner that would stand alongside clinicians and take care of the admin so that individual providers, like me, can feel empowered to deliver the care which we dedicated our lives to," Dr. Kelly told TechCrunch.
Heidi Health's product is designed to alleviate the administrative burden on healthcare professionals by transcribing and dictating notes, generating personalized patient summaries, and tracking tasks. The company's model-agnostic approach allows it to optimize accuracy, latency, and cost. "We built our own AI model and also build on top of other models, such as Gemini," Dr. Kelly explained.
The need for administrative support in healthcare is well-documented. Studies have shown that doctors spend up to 50% of their time on paperwork and administrative tasks, leaving them with less time to focus on patient care. By automating these tasks, Heidi Health aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery.
Waleed Mussa, co-founder of Heidi Health, noted that the company's goal is not only to reduce administrative burdens but also to enhance the overall quality of care. "We're committed to empowering clinicians to deliver high-quality patient care by taking care of the admin work," Mussa said.
The $65 million investment will be used to further develop and expand Heidi Health's product offerings, as well as to drive adoption among healthcare providers worldwide. With this funding, the company is poised to make a significant impact on the healthcare industry.
As Dr. Kelly emphasized, "Our mission is to free up clinicians to focus on what matters most – delivering high-quality patient care." With its innovative approach and commitment to improving healthcare delivery, Heidi Health is well-positioned to achieve this goal.
