Sword Dragon Ichthyosaur Unveiled: Fossil Discovery Reveals Enormous Eyes and Lethal Snout
A newly-named species of ichthyosaur, the Xiphodracon, has been reconstructed from a fossilized skeleton found on the UK's Jurassic Coast in 2001. The specimen, which has been named the "Sword Dragon," boasts an enormous eye socket and a long, sword-like snout, making it one of the most fascinating discoveries in paleontology.

The Sword Dragon's snout is equally impressive, with needle-like piercing teeth designed for feasting on soft-bodied prey such as squid and fish.
"The fossil also has some very interesting dental features," Lomax said. "It's clear that this animal was adapted to catching and eating soft-bodied prey."
