Breaking News: PM Slams Reeves Over Rental Scandal, No Further Action Planned
Chancellor Rachel Reeves faces no further action over the rental scandal involving her family home, despite criticism from the Prime Minister and opposition leader.
Prime Minister's Office confirms that no further action will be taken against Reeves, who initially claimed she was unaware a licence was needed to rent out her home. However, it was later revealed that her husband had been informed of the requirement by the letting agent.
Reeves has apologized for the "inadvertent mistake" and accepted full responsibility. The letting agent has attributed the oversight to a mistake on their part.
The Prime Minister has rebuked Reeves, calling the situation "regrettable". Opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer also expressed disappointment, saying Reeves did not share all relevant emails when she first informed him of the issue.
Conservative Party chairman Kevin Hollinrake has called for a full investigation, citing changing stories from the Chancellor.
This is a developing story, with further updates expected as more information becomes available.
