BREAKING NEWS: Manchester Synagogue Attacker Shot Dead by Police
A 35-year-old man, identified as Jihad Al-Shamie, was shot multiple times by police after launching a car and knife attack on a synagogue in Manchester's Crumpsall area on October 2. The attacker, a Syrian-born UK citizen, was wearing what appeared to be a suicide belt and carrying a knife when he was confronted by armed police.
Al-Shamie was shot minutes after the attack, which left two men dead and three others hospitalized. Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, were killed in the attack. Daulby died from a gunshot wound to the chest fired by police, while Cravitz was stabbed.
The attacker was identified at the scene by fingerprints and secondary evidence, including his mobile phone and car. Members of Al-Shamie's family attended the inquest via videolink.
The inquest into the attack has been opened and adjourned at Manchester Coroner's Court. This incident is a tragic reminder of the importance of community safety and the bravery of law enforcement.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
