Breaking News: Driver Rams into 10 Pedestrians on French Island, Multiple Critically Injured
A driver in his mid-30s has deliberately rammed his car into 10 people, including pedestrians and cyclists, on the Ile d'Oléron off the west coast of France. The incident occurred around 08:45 this morning.
Multiple people are critically injured, with several others also hurt. A young girl is among those injured. The driver abandoned his vehicle and attempted to set it on fire before being arrested with a stun gun.
The suspect, known to police, allegedly shouted "Allahu Akbar" during his arrest. An inquiry has been opened into the incident, with Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez heading to the scene.
Local authorities have set up a crisis unit to deal with the aftermath of the incident. The mayor of Dolus d'Oléron, Thibault Brechkoff, confirmed the driver deliberately targeted pedestrians and cyclists.
