Breaking News: Sex Offender Released Amid Clerical Error, Authorities Scramble to Recapture
A convicted sex offender, Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, has been released from Wandsworth Prison in error, sparking a desperate hunt for the missing prisoner. He was released on October 29, just a day after being found not guilty of a breach of the sex offenders' register's requirements, but still facing other charges.
Kaddour-Cherif, an Algerian national, was flagged as a probable visa overstayer in February 2020 and had been facing multiple prosecutions and court appearances over the past two years. A clerical error led to his release, with prison officers citing a lack of a warrant from the court to hold him.
The release comes just a week after another prisoner, William (Billy) Smith, was mistakenly released from the same prison. Smith has since handed himself in.
Authorities are scrambling to recapture Kaddour-Cherif, who is considered a high-risk individual. The public is being warned to be vigilant and report any sightings to the police immediately.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
