Breaking News: Woman Critically Injured in Unprovoked Stabbing in Birmingham
A woman in her 30s is fighting for her life after being stabbed in the neck in an unprovoked attack in Birmingham city centre. The incident occurred on Smallbrook Queensway, near the Bullring shopping centre and opposite New Street railway station, at around 21:00 GMT on Friday night.
The victim suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a critical condition in hospital. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
The area is extremely busy, with the Bullring shopping centre and New Street station nearby. Police were called to the scene just before 21:00 GMT and are carrying out inquiries.
"We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened," said Det Insp James Nix. "We will have more information as it becomes available."
