Breaking News: Woman Critically Injured in Unprovoked Stabbing in Birmingham
A woman in her 30s is fighting for her life after being stabbed in the neck in a shocking unprovoked attack in Birmingham city centre. The incident occurred on Smallbrook Queensway, near the Bullring shopping centre and opposite New Street railway station, at around 21:00 GMT on Friday night.
The woman suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a critical condition in hospital. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
Police were called to the scene shortly after the attack and are carrying out inquiries. The area is extremely busy, with the Bullring shopping centre and New Street station nearby.
"We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened," said Det Insp James Nix. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the attack.
