Breaking News: Assad's Downfall Sparks Panic Among Syria's Vulnerable Minorities
At least two Christians, Wissam and Shafiq Mansour, were killed in a targeted attack in the village of Anaz in western Syria on October 1. The victims were cousins, aged 39, who were shot by a masked gunman on a motorbike.
The attack has sparked widespread fear among Syria's minority communities, who are increasingly targeted by revenge attacks and sectarian killings. Locals claim the gunman came from a nearby Sunni Muslim village.
The Alawite community, to which the ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad belongs, has also been a prime target for such attacks. The killings have raised concerns about the safety of minority groups in the country.
The Syrian government has yet to comment on the incident, but locals are calling for greater protection and security measures to be put in place. The village of Anaz remains on high alert, with many residents fearing further attacks.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
