Breaking News: Typhoon Fung-wong Devastates Philippines, 4 Dead, 1.4 Million Displaced
At least four people have been killed and over 1.4 million displaced in the Philippines after Typhoon Fung-wong made landfall on Sunday night. The storm slammed ashore in northeastern Aurora province with sustained winds of up to 185 kph (115 mph) and gusts of up to 230 kph (143 mph).
The typhoon has caused widespread destruction, knocking out power to entire provinces and triggering floods and landslides. Rescuers are working to evacuate residents to safer grounds, with many more in need of assistance.
The Philippines is still reeling from the aftermath of Typhoon Kalmaegi, which left at least 224 people dead in central provinces just days ago. Fung-wong's arrival has added to the country's devastation, with many areas struggling to cope with the dual disaster.
Typhoon Fung-wong is now forecast to head northwest toward Taiwan, with the full extent of its impact still to be determined. The Philippine government is urging residents in the storm's path to take necessary precautions and seek shelter.
This is a developing story. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
