Breaking News: Former Medomsley Detention Centre Officer Exposed as Serial Sex Offender
A shocking report has revealed that Neville Husband, a former officer at the notorious Medomsley Detention Centre in County Durham, was a "possibly the most prolific sex offender in British history". Husband was convicted in 2003 of abusing five teenagers and a further 338 sexual offences have been attributed to him in the inquiry's report.
The inquiry found that hundreds of young men were physically and sexually attacked by prison staff from 1961 to 1987. Durham Police has apologized to the victims, while the Ministry of Justice has apologized on behalf of all governments, past and present.
The report highlights a series of missed opportunities by the Home Office, police, and prison managers to stop the abuse. Inmates who complained were not believed and were left to report abuse to the people who had assaulted them.
The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman report warns that the mistreatment of vulnerable individuals is still an issue throughout the youth custody estate. A new investigation is expected to be launched, but details are yet to be confirmed.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
