Breaking News: Man Admits Sex Offences Against Boys at Summer Camp
A 76-year-old man, Jon Ruben, has pleaded guilty to 16 out of 17 charges of sex offences against two boys, aged nine and 10, at a summer camp in Leicestershire. The incidents occurred at Stathern Lodge in July.
Ruben's victims were under-privileged children who were staying at the summer camp he ran. He admitted to giving them sweets laced with a tranquilliser, which led to eight children and one adult falling ill.
According to the prosecution, Ruben would play a "sweet game" with the boys, where he would give them sweets to eat quickly before bedtime. This game had been going on for many years, with children previously falling ill the next morning.
Ruben denied one of the sexual offences against a nine-year-old boy. He is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court again for sentencing.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
