Breaking News: Man Admits to Sex Offences Against Minors at Stathern Summer Camp
A 76-year-old man, Jon Ruben, has admitted to 17 sex offences against two boys, aged nine and 10, at a summer camp in Leicestershire. The incidents occurred in July at Stathern Lodge, where Ruben was running a summer camp for under-privileged children.
Ruben laced sweets with a tranquilliser and gave them to the children, including the two victims, as part of a game. He pleaded guilty to the charges at Leicester Crown Court on Friday. However, he denied one of the sexual offences against a nine-year-old boy.
The court heard that Ruben's victims were under-privileged children who were staying at the summer camp. Eight children and one adult fell ill after consuming the tainted sweets in July, leading to Ruben's arrest.
Ruben has been remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on November 28. The court will determine the next steps in the case.
