Breaking News: Storm Claudia Brings Catastrophic Flooding to UK Amid Amber Rainfall Warnings
The UK is bracing for severe flooding and difficult traveling conditions as Storm Claudia brings heavy rain to parts of the country. Amber warnings from the Met Office are now in force, with rain persisting for much of Friday and into Saturday morning.
Heavy rain associated with Storm Claudia has already caused flooding in south Wales last week, and the situation is expected to worsen with some areas potentially receiving near to their whole month's worth of rain. A strong easterly wind is also forecast, exacerbating the situation.
Storm Claudia was named by the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) after bringing heavy rain and strong winds to Spain and Portugal earlier this week. The rain has since spread across England and Wales, where it has stalled and continues to cause problems.
The Met Office has issued a large yellow severe weather warning across the affected areas, with the situation expected to remain critical throughout the day. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
