BREAKING NEWS: FAA Lifts Commercial Flight Restrictions
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has lifted all restrictions on commercial flights, effective Monday at 6 a.m. EST. The move comes after a 40-day government shutdown that led to staffing shortages at air traffic control facilities.
Airlines can now resume their regular flight schedules, with thousands of flights expected to take off across the country. Impacted airports, including major hubs in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, will return to normal operations.
The unprecedented order to limit traffic in the skies was issued on November 7, citing safety concerns. The FAA had promised air traffic controllers fast shutdown pay, but the agency's staff shortages persisted.
Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy and FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford made the announcement in a joint statement. The decision aims to alleviate the disruptions caused by the shutdown and restore normal air travel operations.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
