Abdalmonim Alrabea, a 44-year-old British citizen based in Sheffield, has been identified as one of the most prominent online propagandists for Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. Alrabea's social media accounts, including TikTok and YouTube, were taken down last week, but not before he had posted hundreds of videos expressing support for the RSF and its alleged atrocities in Sudan's western Darfur region. According to a video posted on October 27, Alrabea appeared in a TikTok live broadcast laughing along with a notorious RSF fighter who boasted about participating in mass killings in the city of El Fasher. The video is just one example of Alrabea's extensive online presence, which has garnered tens of thousands of followers across multiple social media platforms. In an interview with a local news outlet, a spokesperson for the RSF described Alrabea's role as "to recruit" and acknowledged that his efforts have been instrumental in spreading the group's message. "His role is to promote our cause and attract new members," the spokesperson said. "He has been very effective in doing so." Alrabea has traveled to Darfur at least twice since the war began, and his social media accounts have been filled with monologues and videos documenting his experiences. While the RSF has been accused of committing genocide and other human rights abuses in Darfur, Alrabea has consistently expressed support for the group's actions.
