Experts warn that organizations are still in the early stages of scaling AI across their workplaces, with a 2025 report by McKinsey Company revealing that roughly two-thirds of companies are still experimenting with AI and have yet to implement it more widely. According to a recent Fortune dialogue on generative AI at work, companies are not investing enough in going from AI fluency to adoption. Gastón Carrión, the managing director and APAC lead of talent and organization for Accenture, emphasized the need for companies to prioritize people over technology, suggesting that for every dollar spent on technology, three more should be invested in helping employees transition into the future.
The dialogue, sponsored by Accenture, took place on November 13, 2025, and featured Rowena Yeo, the CTO and VP of technology services at Johnson Johnson, who highlighted the importance of AI literacy in exposing organizations to the potential of AI. Yeo noted that while there is an appetite for people to learn, companies are not yet investing enough in upskilling employees to effectively use AI tools.
