Breaking News: UK Braces for Widespread Travel Chaos as Snow and Ice Warnings Take Hold
Multiple Met Office yellow warnings are in force across the UK for snow and ice on Wednesday, with a more severe amber warning issued for Thursday. The UK Health Security Agency has also issued yellow and amber cold-health alerts until Saturday.
Travel disruption is likely in parts of the UK, particularly in hills of Wales, northern England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, where 2-5cm of accumulating snow is forecast. Higher ground can expect even more snow.
The cold snap has already brought wintry showers to south west Wales and south west England, with potential for disruption due to settling snow over high ground. There is also a risk of ice on Wednesday.
The Met Office warns that the risks of snow and ice will diminish by the weekend as temperatures turn less cold. However, the UK is bracing for a challenging few days ahead.
This is a developing story, and we will bring you updates as more information becomes available.
