Fubo, a sports-focused virtual multichannel video programming distributor, announced a rare decision to lower its monthly fees for some of its subscription plans. The company, which was acquired by Disney in October, stated that the prices for its Live TV subscription plans, including hundreds of channels such as FX and The Disney Channel, will be up to 14.8 percent cheaper. The new pricing will take effect with bill cycle dates on or after January 1, 2026.
The new prices for Fubo's plans are as follows: Essential will cost $74 per month, down from $85; Pro will cost $75 per month, down from $85; and Elite will cost $84 per month, down from $95. This move is significant, as it reverses the typical trend of streaming services increasing their prices.
"We are committed to providing our customers with the best possible value for their money," said a Fubo spokesperson. "We believe that these price reductions will help us better serve our customers and stay competitive in the market." When asked about the reasons behind the price cut, the spokesperson declined to comment further.
Fubo's decision to lower its prices is a departure from the usual practice of streaming services increasing their prices. According to industry analysts, this move may be a response to the growing competition in the streaming market, where companies are vying for subscribers. "The streaming market is becoming increasingly saturated, and companies are looking for ways to differentiate themselves," said an analyst at a leading research firm. "Lowering prices is one way for Fubo to attract and retain customers."
Fubo's acquisition by Disney in October has also been seen as a factor in the company's decision to lower its prices. Disney's acquisition of Fubo has been seen as a strategic move to expand its reach in the streaming market. "Disney's acquisition of Fubo has given the company the resources and expertise to invest in its products and services," said another analyst. "This move to lower prices is likely a result of that investment."
The new prices will take effect with bill cycle dates on or after January 1, 2026. Subscribers will see the price changes reflected in their next bill. Fubo has not announced any plans to raise prices in the future, but the company has stated that it will continue to monitor the market and adjust its prices accordingly.
In related news, Fubo has also announced plans to expand its content offerings in the coming months. The company has stated that it will add new channels and features to its platform, which will be available to subscribers at no additional cost.
