Breaking News: Thieves Strike Bristol Museum, Steal Hundreds of Valuable Items
Over 600 artefacts of significant cultural value have been stolen from Bristol Museum's archive in a brazen raid. The theft occurred in the early hours of September 25th in the Cumberland Basin area of the city. Police have released images of four men captured on CCTV in the area.
The stolen items include military memorabilia, jewellery, natural history pieces, and carved ivory, bronze, and silver figurines. A carved ivory Buddha and a belt buckle from the East India Company uniform were among the items taken. These artefacts provide insight into the British Empire and Commonwealth collection.
Detectives are urging the public to come forward with any information. Avon and Somerset Police are working to identify the four men in the CCTV images. The theft is a significant loss for the city, with many of the items being donations.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
