Breaking News: Multiple Fatalities in Bondi Beach Shooting
At least 11 people have been killed and multiple others injured in a shooting at Bondi Beach in Australia, targeting the Jewish community during a Hanukkah celebration. The attack occurred at around 18:47 local time (07:47 GMT) on a night when over 1,000 people were in attendance.
New South Wales Police have confirmed that two gunmen were involved in the attack, with one gunman killed and the second in critical condition. Police are investigating whether others were involved.
The shooting is being treated as a terrorist attack by authorities. New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has expressed his condolences to the Jewish community, stating that his heart "bleeds for Australia's Jewish community tonight."
Mass shootings in Australia are extremely rare, with the Bondi Beach incident being the deadliest since the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, which claimed 35 lives.
Police are currently on the scene, and an investigation is underway. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
This is a developing story.
