Australian police say the alleged Bondi gunmen acted alone. Sajid Akram, 50, and Naveed Akram, 24, did not train in the Philippines. The pair killed 15 people at a Jewish event on Bondi Beach on December 14.
The Akrams traveled to the Philippines on November 1, landing in Manila. They immediately transited to Davao City. They returned to Sydney on November 29. Authorities believe they rarely left their hotel.
Police declared the attack a terrorist incident. It is Australia's worst mass shooting since 1996.
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett confirmed the findings Tuesday. CCTV footage from the Philippines is under review. Initial assessments suggest no training occurred.
The investigation continues to determine the motive. Authorities are analyzing the CCTV footage. They are also examining the Akrams' digital footprint.
