Anthony Joshua was injured in a car crash in Nigeria that killed two members of his team. The former heavyweight champion was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, near Lagos, according to multiple news sources.
The accident claimed the lives of Latif "Latz" Ayodele and Sina Ghami, who were close friends and team members of Joshua, Matchroom Boxing said in a statement. Joshua sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for checks, where he is in stable condition, according to the BBC.
The Ogun State police are currently investigating the incident. The Guardian reported that the collision occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
