James Bond Game "007 First Light" Delayed to May 2026
The upcoming James Bond video game, "007 First Light," has been delayed until May 27, 2026, developer IO Interactive announced. The game, initially slated for release on March 27, will now be available two months later.
The delay marks a setback for fans eager to experience a new Bond adventure in the gaming world. "007 First Light" will be the first video game featuring the British spy since 2012's "007 Legends."
IO Interactive, known for the "Hitman" series, stated that the game is "fully playable from beginning to end." However, the company said the additional time was needed to "further polish" the title, according to a statement.
The game, an origin story, will star Patrick Gibson, contrary to initial reports naming Dexter Origi. The game is being developed in association with Delphi Interactive, which is also working on the upcoming FIFA game due to be released on Netflix ahead of the 2026 World Cup, according to BBC Technology.
The delay leaves fans "shaken, not stirred," as one BBC Technology source put it, after a 14-year hiatus of Bond in the gaming world. The developers hope the new game will surpass the legacy of classics like "GoldenEye 007."
