James Bond Game "007 First Light" Delayed to May 2026
The upcoming James Bond video game, "007 First Light," has been delayed until May 27, 2026, developer IO Interactive announced. The game, initially slated for release on March 27, will now be available two months later.
The delay marks a setback for fans eagerly awaiting the return of James Bond to the gaming world after a 14-year absence, since 2012's "007 Legends." According to IO Interactive, the decision to postpone the release was made to allow for additional polishing of the game, despite it being "fully playable from beginning to end."
"007 First Light" is being developed in association with Delphi Interactive, which is also involved in the upcoming FIFA game set to be released on Netflix ahead of the 2026 World Cup, according to BBC Technology.
The game will feature a reimagined origin story of James Bond, starring Patrick Gibson, according to multi-source reporting from BBC Technology. While earlier reports suggested Dexter Origi would star, the latest information confirms Gibson in the lead role. Developers hope the new title will surpass the legacy of classic Bond games like "GoldenEye 007."
