Eurostar Services Return to Normal After Channel Tunnel Disruption
Eurostar and Le Shuttle services through the Channel Tunnel resumed Wednesday morning after a day of major disruptions that left thousands of passengers stranded. The disruption was caused by an overhead power supply problem and a failed Le Shuttle train that blocked all routes, according to multiple news sources.
Eurostar had cancelled most of its London to Europe services on Tuesday due to the issues. Repair work was conducted overnight, allowing rail services to resume in both directions on Wednesday.
While services have resumed, Eurostar urged passengers to check for potential knock-on delays and last-minute cancellations before traveling. Most of Eurostar's Wednesday morning services in and out of London were running, "according to [BBC Business]".
Eurostar is offering compensation for the inconvenience caused by the delays. The company is also running an extra London to Paris service to accommodate affected passengers. Le Shuttle services are mostly operating normally, although delays were still being reported in Calais.
