Anthony Joshua's driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged in Sagamu Magistrates' Court on Friday with causing death by dangerous driving following a car crash in Nigeria that killed two members of the boxer's team. The crash, which occurred on Monday in Ogun state near Lagos, resulted in the deaths of Joshua's personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, according to police sources speaking to the BBC.

Kayode allegedly lost control of the vehicle while speeding after a tire burst, causing it to collide with a stationary truck, multiple news sources reported. Joshua was a passenger in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Police sources confirmed to the BBC that Kayode faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving. The Guardian reported that Kayode has been granted bail, but remains in custody until the conditions of his bail are met.

The incident occurred on a highway in Ogun state. The BBC reported that Joshua was traveling with his team members when the vehicle crashed. The loss of Ayodele and Ghami has deeply affected the former heavyweight champion.

The case is ongoing, and Kayode remains in custody pending fulfillment of his bail conditions. Further court dates have not yet been announced.
