Pebble is set to release the Pebble Round 2, a refreshed version of its thinnest smartwatch, following the launch of its revived smartwatch line and a budget-friendly AI smart ring. The Pebble Round 2, priced at $199, features a rounded screen designed to offer a more premium aesthetic while maintaining the brand's commitment to affordability.
Like previous Pebble devices, the Round 2 focuses on essential functionalities to keep costs down. The new smartwatch includes basic health and activity tracking, monitoring steps and sleep patterns. However, it omits a heart rate monitor and other advanced features typically found in fitness-focused smartwatches. This trade-off allows for extended battery life, with the Pebble Round 2 expected to last between 10 to 14 days on a single charge.
The Pebble Round 2 is a successor to the Pebble Time Round, originally launched in 2015. Pebble had touted the original Time Round as the thinnest smartwatch on the market. The new version maintains a slim profile, measuring 8.1 mm in thickness, a slight increase from the original's 7.5 mm. The company aims to provide a balance between design and functionality, catering to users who prioritize simplicity and battery life over extensive features.
