Pebble is set to release the Pebble Round 2, a refreshed version of its thinnest smartwatch, following the launch of its revived Pebble smartwatch and a budget-friendly AI smart ring. The new device, priced at $199, features a rounded screen design intended to give it a more premium aesthetic while maintaining affordability, a hallmark of Pebble products.
Like previous Pebble devices, the Round 2 focuses on essential functionalities to keep costs down. The smartwatch offers basic health and activity tracking, including step counting and sleep monitoring. However, it omits a heart rate sensor and other advanced features typically found in fitness-oriented smartwatches. This trade-off allows for extended battery life, with Pebble estimating that the Round 2 will last between 10 and 14 days on a single charge.
The Pebble Round 2 is a successor to the Pebble Time Round, originally launched in 2015. The company had touted the original as the thinnest smartwatch on the market. The new version maintains a slim profile, measuring 8.1 mm in thickness, a slight increase from the original's 7.5 mm. The release of the Round 2 mirrors the strategy employed with the Pebble Time 2, indicating a trend of reviving popular models from Pebble's past catalog.
