Kevin O'Leary, a.k.a. Mr. Wonderful, landed his film debut in Josh Safdie's upcoming table tennis drama, "Marty Supreme." Safdie headhunted O'Leary for the role of Milton Rockwell, a wealthy businessman. The Shark Tank judge revealed Safdie's initial pitch was direct: "We're looking for a real expletive, and you're it."
O'Leary read the script and immediately signed on, calling it "extraordinary." The film boasts a massive cast of around 150. Expect to see appearances from Tyler, the Creator, Tracy McGrady, and Isaac Mizrahi, alongside seasoned actors. Casting director Jennifer Venditti, known for her work with the Safdie brothers, hand-picked the diverse ensemble.
Industry insiders are buzzing about Safdie's unconventional casting choices. The film promises a raw, authentic feel. Audiences are eager to see O'Leary's performance outside the boardroom.
Josh and Benny Safdie are celebrated for their gritty, character-driven films like "Uncut Gems." Their films often blur the line between reality and fiction.
"Marty Supreme," starring Timothée Chalamet, is currently in post-production. A release date is expected soon.
