LG is showcasing its new Wallpaper OLED TV, the OLED evo W6, at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), featuring a thickness of just 9mm. The South Korean company initially introduced the Wallpaper line in 2017 and is now reviving it with this new model.
The OLED evo W6 can connect wirelessly to LG's Zero Connect Box, enabling the streaming of lossless 4K video and audio, provided the box remains within 10 meters of the TV. LG asserts that the new TV improves upon brightness, color, and black levels compared to its previous iterations. It has also received reflection-free certification from Intertek, a product testing group.
The display features a refresh rate that reaches up to 165Hz and supports AMD's FreeSync Premium technology. This technology synchronizes the refresh rate of the display with the frame rate of compatible graphics cards, reducing screen tearing and stuttering for smoother gaming and video playback.
LG has not yet released pricing information for the W6, but the company stated that it will be available in 77-inch and 83-inch sizes. The reintroduction of the Wallpaper line underscores LG's continued focus on OLED technology, which is known for its superior contrast ratios and color accuracy compared to traditional LED-backlit LCD TVs. The company's emphasis on wireless connectivity with the Zero Connect Box also reflects a growing trend toward minimizing cable clutter in home entertainment setups.
