Jack Black said in a Capital FM interview that declining the role of Syndrome in Pixar's "The Incredibles" is his biggest career regret. Black was offered the villain role but turned it down because he was unfamiliar with director Brad Bird, whose only prior directorial credit at the time was "The Iron Giant" in 1999, and because he requested script revisions.

Black stated that he now considers "The Incredibles" to be among his favorite films. He admitted, "I was offered, and I do regret it, saying no I was offered Syndrome in that fantastic movie."
