An ICE agent identified as Jonathan Ross, who reportedly shot Renee Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday, is a firearms trainer. Ross's role was revealed in sworn testimony from a December 2025 federal court trial. The testimony, obtained by WIRED, detailed Ross's position as a veteran deportation officer in ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations division. He also served on a Special Response Team, ICE's equivalent of a SWAT team.
The testimony stemmed from a June 2025 incident where Ross led a team seeking to apprehend Roberto Carlos Muñoz-Guatemala on an administrative warrant. The team followed Muñoz-Guatemala in unmarked vehicles due to restrictions on entering his home near a school. Muñoz-Guatemala's attorney has not yet commented.
The shooting of Renee Good is currently under investigation. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses. The incident raises questions about ICE's training protocols and use of force.
