Google Faces Tribunal Over Redundancy Claim Following Sexual Harassment Report
London — A former senior Google employee, Victoria Woodall, has brought an employment tribunal claim against Google, alleging she was made redundant after reporting a manager for sexual harassment, according to the BBC. The tribunal heard that Woodall claims she faced retaliation from the company after reporting the manager, who was later dismissed.
The case centers around Woodall's allegations that the manager shared details of his "swinger lifestyle" with clients and showed them a nude photograph of his wife. Following Woodall's report, Google UK conducted an internal investigation. Documents presented in court, as seen by the BBC, revealed that the investigation found the manager had touched two female colleagues without their consent, and his behavior constituted sexual harassment.
Google denies retaliating against Woodall. The company maintains that her redundancy was not connected to her whistleblowing. The employment tribunal is expected to examine the details of Google's internal investigation and the circumstances surrounding Woodall's redundancy to determine whether retaliation occurred. The tribunal continues to hear evidence.
