Sony's A7V mirrorless camera, anticipated as a key release for 2025, arrived late in the year, establishing itself as a top contender in the hybrid still and video camera market. The A7V offers a balance of features, incorporating elements from Sony's A7R and A7S series, making it a versatile option for a wide range of users.
According to WIRED, the A7V boasts excellent dynamic range, rapid shooting capabilities, and a 33-megapixel full-frame sensor, providing high resolution for various photography needs. Scott Gilbertson of WIRED noted that the A7 series, in general, served as an entry point into serious digital photography.
The camera features good autofocus and subject tracking, blackout-free 30-fps shooting with an electronic shutter, and a pre-capture mode. It also delivers excellent high-ISO performance. However, its video capabilities are limited to 4K resolution.
The Sony A7 series is known for its all-around capabilities, balancing resolution and video focus, making it a suitable choice for many photographers and videographers. The A7V is currently available for purchase at retailers like Amazon, Adorama, and BH Photo, with a body-only price of $2,898.
