A construction crane collapsed onto a moving train in north-east Thailand, killing at least 32 people. The accident injured 66 others, including a one-year-old and an 85-year-old. Seven are in critical condition.
The incident occurred around 09:00 local time (02:00 GMT). The crane derailed the train and crushed carriages, causing one to catch fire. The train was traveling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani province.
Authorities reported 171 passengers were on board. Many were students and workers commuting for school and work. Thai state railways is pursuing legal action against the construction company.
The Italian-Thai Development Company expressed regret. They pledged to compensate the families of the deceased and injured. Local outlet The Nation reported the crane was lifting materials at the time of the collapse.
