Global Crises: UK Poverty Soars, US Freezes, Sicily Slides, EU Blocked
Multiple sources report that poverty in the UK has worsened, with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation finding that approximately 6.8 million people, nearly half of the total poverty-stricken population, are living in "very deep poverty," defined as earning less than 40% of the UK median household income, marking the highest level in over 30 years and impacting food security and child poverty rates. This deepening hardship is reflected in an increase in food insecurity and a rise in the number of children living in poverty for the third consecutive year.
