Hundreds of thousands marched in Istanbul on Thursday in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Protesters condemned Israel's actions and rejected claims of meaningful relief from the ceasefire.
The demonstration took place on the Galata Bridge despite freezing temperatures. It was organized by the National Will Platform and Turkish football clubs. The rally's slogan was "We won't remain silent, we won't forget Palestine."
Over 400 civil society groups participated, fueled by anger at Israel's ongoing assault. Major football clubs encouraged attendance, contributing to the demonstration's size. Galatasaray football club chair Dursun O. participated in the march.
The protest marks one of the largest pro-Palestine demonstrations in Türkiye since the start of the war. Organizers aim to maintain pressure on international bodies to intervene. Further demonstrations are expected in the coming weeks.
