Anthony Joshua's driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, was charged Friday in connection to a fatal car crash in Nigeria. The crash killed Joshua's personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami. Kayode faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving.
The accident occurred Monday on a highway in Ogun state, near Lagos. Joshua was a passenger in the vehicle. He sustained injuries and was hospitalized, later discharged Wednesday.
Prosecutors filed four charges against Kayode. These include reckless driving and driving without a valid license. He was granted bail for 5,000,000 Naira.
Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, was returning to Nigeria. The crash is a tragic loss for his team.
Kayode remains remanded pending further legal proceedings. The investigation is ongoing.
