Tech Devices Expected to Become More Expensive in 2026 Due to Rising RAM Costs
The cost of numerous electronic devices, ranging from smartphones and PCs to smart TVs and medical equipment, is projected to increase in 2026 due to a significant surge in the price of RAM. According to reports from BBC Technology and BBC Business, the price of RAM, once considered one of the most affordable computer components, has more than doubled since October 2025.
The primary driver behind this price hike is the rapid expansion of data centers that support artificial intelligence (AI). These data centers require substantial amounts of RAM, creating a supply and demand imbalance that is forcing prices upward.
Manufacturers often absorb minor cost increases, but the magnitude of the current RAM price surge is likely to be passed on to consumers.
