Anthony Joshua's Driver Charged in Fatal Nigeria Crash
Lagos, Nigeria – Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of British boxer Anthony Joshua, was charged with dangerous driving following a fatal crash in Nigeria on December 29, 2025, that resulted in two deaths. According to police in Ogun State, southwestern Nigeria, the 46-year-old Kayode faces multiple charges including causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a valid license, driving without due care and attention, causing bodily harm, and damage to property.
The incident occurred on a busy highway linking Lagos and Ibadan when the Lexus SUV Kayode was driving rammed into a stationary truck. Al Jazeera reported that Joshua was in the vehicle with two friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. Ayodele and Ghami, identified by The Guardian as Joshua's personal trainer and strength coach, respectively, died in the collision. Joshua sustained injuries in the crash.
Kayode is expected to appear in court to answer the charges. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
