Anthony Joshua's driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged in a Sagamu Magistrates' Court on Friday with causing death by dangerous driving following a car crash in Nigeria that killed two members of the former heavyweight champion's team. The crash, which also left Joshua with minor injuries, occurred on Monday in Ogun state, near Lagos, according to multiple news sources.
The deceased were identified as Joshua's personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami. According to police sources speaking to the BBC, Kayode faces charges related to the fatal incident.
Reports indicate the vehicle, in which Joshua was a passenger, collided with a stationary truck on a highway. The Guardian, citing multiple news sources, reported that the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle after a tire burst while speeding.
Kayode has been granted bail but remains in custody until the conditions of his release are met, according to The Guardian. Further details regarding the specific conditions of his bail were not immediately available. The BBC reported that Joshua also sustained minor injuries in the crash.
