A construction crane collapsed onto a moving train in north-east Thailand, killing at least 32 people. The accident injured 66 others. The incident occurred around 09:00 local time (02:00 GMT).
The crane derailed the train as it fell. Some carriages were crushed, and one caught fire. The train was traveling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani province.
Among the injured were a one-year-old and an 85-year-old. Seven people are in critical condition. Approximately 171 passengers were on board, mostly students and workers.
Thai state railways is pursuing legal action against the construction company. The Italian-Thai Development Company expressed regret. They pledged to compensate victims' families.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crane collapse. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
