NASA's Artemis II mission is one step closer to launch. The Space Launch System rocket will roll out Saturday from Kennedy Space Center. The rollout begins at 7:00 am EST (11:00 UTC).
The massive rocket will travel four miles to Launch Complex 39B. The journey is expected to take 8-10 hours. NASA's crawler transporter will carry the rocket.
Artemis II marks a significant milestone. It is the first human voyage to the Moon's vicinity since 1972. The mission will send four astronauts around the far side of the Moon.
This mission will not land on the Moon. The crew will venture farther from Earth than any humans before. Engineers are monitoring for "launch fever" as the pressure mounts.
Next, NASA will continue pre-launch preparations. The Artemis II mission is targeted for launch in the future.
