The Jones Hovercraft 2.0 snowboard, designed for off-piste adventures, has garnered positive reviews for its performance in powder, steeps, and trees. According to Wired, the board offers "unbelievable float" and nimble turning in powder, while also performing well on steep slopes and in wooded areas.
The Hovercraft 2.0 is considered an alternative directional freeride board, optimized for off-piste conditions, but also capable on groomers and steeps, according to Jones. The original Hovercraft was released in 2010.
One reviewer recounted using the prototype Jones Hovercraft 2.0 during a heli-skiing trip in Whistler, British Columbia. Initially hesitant to use an unfamiliar board on a valuable day of untracked powder, the reviewer ultimately chose to ride the Jones. The reviewer stated, "Not only was it incredible for that heli day, I didn’t stop riding it for two years straight. I can’t believe how good this board is."
While praised for its float and turning ability, the board's wider design requires slightly more effort to get on edge, and it lacks significant pop for jumps or buttering. Its directional design also limits switch riding.
The Jones Hovercraft 2.0 is currently available for purchase.
