Border Patrol Gunfire, Protests, and a Trump Interruption Fuel Immigration Debate
Multiple sources report that a U.S. citizen was hospitalized after allegedly firing upon Border Patrol agents and an Air and Marine Operations helicopter near Arivaca, Arizona, prompting agents to return fire and strike him; the FBI is leading an investigation into the incident, which involved a suspect with a history of alleged human smuggling and at least one firearm. The shooting, which is also being investigated internally by Customs and Border Protection, occurred while agents were attempting to stop the suspect's vehicle and follows a recent controversial Border Patrol shooting in Minneapolis.
