Umer Khalid, a 22-year-old British pro-Palestine activist, ended his hunger and thirst strike in Wormwood Scrubs Prison in London on Sunday after his health rapidly deteriorated, according to Al Jazeera. Khalid, who is being held on pre-trial remand and linked to Palestine Action, was treated in intensive care after his heart rate slowed to a dangerous level.
Khalid had been refusing fluids since late Friday. His family understands that he has since returned to prison. He was among eight Palestine Action-linked remand prisoners who had participated in a hunger strike since November, according to Al Jazeera.
